Executive functioning skills are how our brain goes through the mental motions of processing, identifying, monitoring, and achieving goals in life. It takes conscious effort to do, but this doesn’t necessarily come naturally or easily to everyone! For example, children with ADHD can often be seen as scatter brained, lazy, or even downright defiant. Maybe you’ve asked your child to brush their teeth seventeen times, you know they know it has to be done, but it’s not getting done. You see them playing on the tablet instead, so they must be not listening on purpose… right?

Let’s rethink that and assume it’s not because they’re trying to be difficult, but rather due to differences in the brain that result in challenges with executive functioning skills: self-awareness, impulse control, working memory, emotional regulation, motivation, planning, and problem solving. Additional support from you as a parent, can help your child develop these skills and feed their self-esteem. It’s those little things that may surprise you, go a long way. Led by Andrea Hardy & Kara Eggen, our workshop teaches targeted learning strategies that can help you support your child’s executive functioning skills at home.

Our Executive Functioning Skills workshop is tailored to parents, to do just that! Whether you’re the parent of a child with ADHD, autism, or simply relate to having the child that seems to never start, finish, or hand-in their homework on time - we’d love to see you here. Unlike many other programs, we don’t just throw you to the wolves when you finish the program. Follow-up support is available if you’re still struggling afterwards.
